Nearly all of our institutions are enduring great stress during the COVID-19 crisis, and global supply chain networks are no exception. From everyday basics that are no longer available on grocery store shelves to shortages of desperately-needed medical equipment, the news has been filled with reports of scarcity. Why is the pandemic causing the “invisible hand” of the market to leave us so short-handed? Are these just temporary disruptions or will supply chains forever be altered?
