This story from public radio station WBUR in Boston discusses the innovative new “Care Cube” developed to allow patients infected with COVID-19 to be visited by healthy individuals and treated by their health care providers with less risk. The Care Cube is a low-cost portable isolation unit that reduces the need for personal protective equipment, and it goes into production in late August. The Care Cube has a glove window that allows medical personnel to touch patients without wearing personal protective equipment. As radio reporter Jon Kalish describes, the Care Cube also has a hug suit for loved ones to see and hug patients with COVID-19 or other infectious diseases.
