Rural Broadband Investment Urgently Needed in the COVID-19 Crisis

Many people living in rural areas of the United States do not have access to broadband — in fact, the Pew Research Center estimates that more than one third of rural residents lack a broadband connection at home.

The COVID-19 pandemic has really brought to light how important broadband access is to the economy, especially when so many people are working from home or teaching their children at home. Because this affects people in rural areas at a higher rate than their suburban or urban counterparts, the Regional Rural Development Centers (RRDC) have published a statement explaining this need and details regarding the post-COVID-19 economy.
