As stated in an article just published by Reuters, the total U.S. coronavirus cases has now surpassed 2 million. According to the analysis, new infections are rising slightly all over the country after five weeks of declines. Part of the increase is due to more testing, which hit a record high on June 5 of 545,690 tests in a single day.

Recent increases in cases are likely a result of more people moving about and resuming some business as all 50 states start to reopen. Huge nationwide protests with no social distancing could lead to another spike in cases in coming weeks. Health officials are urging anyone who has participated in the protests to get tested.
