Warning About Defective Face Masks

In this letter to health care providers, the FDA issues warnings about certain face masks not providing adequate protection. These specified respirators from China have proved to filter out only 20-25% of particles instead of the 95% they are supposed to catch.

Respirators that did not meet their labeled performance standard are no longer authorized to be marketed or distributed in the United States. The FDA continues to collaborate with the CDC to increase the availability and ensure the integrity of respirators during the
COVID-19 public health emergency.
